Instead he is told: “You know, Paul, Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter. We won the mid-term elections, this is our due.”

Unless of course, the Bush Tax Bailout to the rich is due to expire at the end of the year…All of a sudden, unemployment extensions for suffering people must be ‘paid for’ and the Catfood Commission is plotting behind closed doors to fuck Seniors and future generations so that the rich fuckers can keep their plundered tax dollars. All in the name of concern for the deficit…give me a break. How about cutting the Defense Budget? Fat Chance of that. How well did all of the trillions spent serve America on 9/11? 19 amateur Saudi pilots with box cutters brought this Country to its knees; on the verge of bankruptcy from two wars of choice and the Constitution’s protections in shreds.

Fuck Blanche Lincoln. The fix was in for her in Arkansas as the Corporatists couldn’t let one of their own go down to defeat. As much as I hoped Halter would win, I can’t say I’m surprised he didn’t.

I was surprised, however, to hear that Alvin Greene, a black unemployed veteran from South Carolina, won the Democratic Nomination for Senator. The real surprising part is that he had no money, no campaign signs and no website! Now that’s a populist approach.

The pathetic Democratic Establishment in SC was scrambling today to explain why or how this could possibly be? One explanation floated out there was  the alphabetical listing of names on the ballot had Greene before his opponent, someone named Rawls, and they just chose his name first. Another theory is this was a ruse by the Republicans to cinch the victory for Tea Bagger favorite DeMint in November.

The scariest scenario of all for the Power Elite, however, is that Greene was simply able to garner enough votes from blacks, veterans and the unemployed, of which there are plenty in South Carolina. That is not as easy to explain away with alphabetical listing jibberish and super secret Republicpuke machinations. A true grass roots movement cannot be allowed to upset the Gravy Train.

Given that, it is kind of interesting that the dirt digging on Mr. Greene has already started. It seems that back in the Fall, Mr. Greene was charged with obscenity of some sort at the University of South Carolina involving the internet and a 19 year old co-ed he supposedly propositioned - no mention of whether she is black or white, but we did manage to learn that she is a Republican - you figure it out. She is quoted by the AP, “He’s a pretty big boy. He could’ve overpowered me.” The ‘details’ are laid out nicely in this sloppy piece on the Huffington Post where the caption under the picture of Mr. Greene states that he has a felony record despite the fact that he hasn’t even been indicted! Can you have a record without being convicted?

In a rather astute statement about his surprising victory and the immediate dust-up over his ‘felony’ charge, Mr. Greene had this to say, “The Democratic Party has chosen their nominee, and we have to stand behind their choice,” Greene told the AP at his home in Manning. “The people have spoken. We need to be pro-South Carolina, not anti-Greene.”

One thing can be said about the politics in the Palmetto State, they ain’t boring. ‘Mysterious’ Senate candidates out of nowhere, South American love trysts, illicit affair allegations, racist rag-head comments and the always fabulous Lindsay Graham. Arkansas, in contrast, was more of the same - fixed elections and Corporations squashing the People’s voice.

I can’t believe this fucking story. There’s money for banks and Wall Street crooks and money for the mercenary armies of Blackwater, but this courageous dude is shit out of luck. Wounded by a sniper in the shithole that is Iraq, this Vet is being treated like a dog:

“Last June, the Army sent Pfleider a bill for more than $3,000. Technically, the clothes and weapons his unit had to leave behind after he got shot were the responsibility of his commanding officers….The feds are already docking Pfleider’s social security and put a freeze on his tax returns. Making it even more difficult for him to mentally prepare for an upcoming surgery on his leg, the ninth one he’s undergone since getting shot.”

The BP oil disaster in the Gulf may well prove to be Obama’s Katrina. For just as Hurricane Katrina exposed the Bushco crime syndicate as the callous Family it is, the BP Spill may prove to expose Obama as the fraud that he is.

Many in the media, disappointingly including the ‘liberal’ blogosphere, have poo pooed the Wingnuts’ claims to pin the spill on Barack…and while it is true that he didn’t cause the disaster, just as Bush didn’t cause Katrina, his response has been much the same. The lackadaisacal approach that is allowing a confirmed polluter like BP to continue to run the show in the Gulf serves to underscore several of the criticisms that have been thrown at Mr. Hopey Changey. Namely, the coziness that he shows towards Corporations and an almost petrified ability to take ACTION, when he campaigned on CHANGE.

While Katrina was a full frontal assault on the distracted American mind, with imagery of floating corpses and the devastation at the Superdome, the BP Spill is a slow burn. Pouring oil and natural gas into the Gulf at an alarming rate for nearly a month now, this BP made disaster has the potential to devastate not only the Gulf Coast region, but Obama’s hopes for re-election as well.

While both tragedies occurred in the snake bitten Gulf Region, the similarities end there…Katrina blew up Bush’s good old boy persona and any claim to competence in a matter of days, the BP Spill is like a festering sore that you don’t want to deal with until it is so painful that you can’t sit down…This is Obama’s deal. The feckless Salazar and the cretins at the MMS who were showered with money and sporting event tickets may grab the headlines, but as long as the President enables BP in its futile efforts at protecting their investment in the Gulf, at the expense of the American People and the Gulf Environment, this boil will grow and eventually make even Katrina seem trivial in its aftermath.

Heckuva Job Obama.
